The situation 4000 years ago: The Flood has been forgotten widely. The descendants of Noah are led by the spirit of Satan and they build a huge tower "up to the sky".

God says: "This is only the beginning. Soon nothing will be impossible for them."

God is saving mankind from its own doing.

It is like nowadays. The capability of self-destruction is described in the movie

"On the Beach".  On the northern hemisphere of the earth people have died by the radioactive fallout, and we witness in the movie the last weeks of mankind in Australia.   Slowly the radioactive cloud penetrates to the south.

To save mankind from themselves, God did arrange a confusion of languages, so that mankind did separate into many nations.   Furthermore the nations were guided by angels of the followership of Satan - no more by himself.

Satan himself is the angel "Lucifer", which means "Carrier of Light". He brings the "light" to the people. ( Probably the knowledge of "Right" and "Wrong".)

But why is he so dangerous?

The creatures of God - angels and men - are designed in a way, that they are able to recognize their creator.   And God gives them an open space to turn to Him, or to withdraw from Him.  The God of Love will never compel anybody to love Him.

But He is longing to be loved.

Satan has been equipped by God with great competencies - the "Carrier of Light" - and then turned away from Him.

He wants to be god on his own. In his fellowship is a great number of faithless angels.

The best of them - together with their subordinates - are now guiding the nations.

These angels are those gods.
